HullLog is committed to respecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Information We Collect
Observations. When you submit an observation through HullLog, we store the observation details (category, severity, description, date, location if provided) along with the associated vessel. Observations are public by default and visible on vessel detail pages.
Contact submissions. If you use the contact form, we store your name (if provided), email (if provided), and message so we can read and respond to feedback.
Charter logs. Charter trip data (checklists, daily checks, trip observations) is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to our servers.
Information We Do Not Collect
HullLog does not require account creation. We do not collect passwords, payment information, browsing history, or advertising identifiers. We do not use cookies for tracking or analytics.
How We Use Your Information
Observations are displayed publicly on vessel detail pages to provide independent information for the charter community.
Contact form submissions are used solely to read and respond to user feedback. They are not shared with third parties or used for marketing.
Third-Party Services
HullLog is hosted on Vercel. Database services are provided by Neon (PostgreSQL). These providers may process server logs and request metadata in accordance with their own privacy policies. We do not share your submitted content with any other third parties.
Data Retention
Observations and contact submissions are retained indefinitely unless deletion is requested. Charter log data stored in your browser persists until you clear your browser data or delete individual trips.
Fleet registry data (vessel specifications, images) is sourced from public charter listings and retained for reference purposes.
Your Rights
You may request deletion of any observation or contact submission you have made by contacting the site administrator. Charter log data is under your control and can be deleted directly from your device.
Changes
This privacy policy may be updated over time. Continued use of HullLog constitutes acceptance of the current policy.
